Chinnamasta

Chinnamasta is an enigmatic and fierce goddess, representing the transformative power of self-sacrifice and spiritual awakening. Her name, Chinnamasta, translates to "She Who Severs Her Own Head," symbolising the transcendence of ego and the ultimate act of detachment.

In tantric iconography, Chinnamasta is depicted as a naked goddess, standing on a lotus pedestal. She holds her own severed head in one hand, while her other two hands hold a sword and a freshly severed head, respectively. Blood spurts out from her neck, feeding her own severed head and two accompanying attendants known as Dakini and Varnini, who drink the flowing blood from skull-cups.
