Tantra Sound Club: the Trilogy of Creation

Tantra Sound, rooted in the ancient traditions of Tantra, is a profound exploration of the interplay between sound, consciousness, and physicality. It embraces the belief that sound is not merely a sensory experience but a gateway to profound transformation. In the Tantric tradition, sound is seen as a sacred vibration that resonates with the fundamental essence of existence. It is believed that through intentional use of sound, one can connect with the divine within and access higher states of consciousness. Tantra Sound encompasses various practices and techniques that harness the power of sound to unlock inner wisdom, expand awareness, and facilitate personal and professional growth. Nepal, with its rich spiritual heritage and deep connection to Tantra, holds a special place in the exploration of Tantra Sound. The mystical land is renowned for its profound rituals, ancient traditions, and mastery of sacred sound instruments like singing bowls.

Logo

Our logo, consisting of a red dot and a golden circle, encapsulates the essence of Tantra Sound and its core concepts. The red dot represents the Bindu, a powerful symbol in Tantra representing the primordial sound of creation. It signifies the divine energy, the source of life, and the eternal vibration that pervades the universe. It also represents the still centre point of a singing bowl, where vibrations start and end. The golden circle represents the harmony and unity of our body as a Yantra (mechanism/instrument). It also represents the interconnection of Tantra (weaving energy) with Mantra (sacred Sound) in the mystery of creation. The golden ring also symbolises the vibrating edges of a singing bowl, which shape and form amplify and harmonise sound vibrations.

Singing bowls

Singing bowls, an integral part of Tantra Sound, are emitting specific frequencies that resonate with the body's energy centres, promoting balance, harmony, and inner peace. These ancient instruments produce ethereal tones that create a space for deep relaxation, meditation, inner exploration and confidence.

Through the art of sound therapy and meditation, practitioners of Tantra Sound dive into the transformative potential of sound vibrations. They delve into practices that involve toning, chanting, mantra repetition, and mindful listening to access profound states of relaxation, release energetic blockages, and awaken dormant potentials. Tantra Sound encourages a deep attainment to the subtle nuances of sound, fostering a profound connection with oneself and the interconnectedness of all beings of our societies.

Sanskrit

In Sanskrit, the word "Tantra" is used as a noun and is typically inflected based on its grammatical role in a sentence. Here are a few examples of how "Tantra" is used in different forms in Sanskrit:

  1. Nominative case: Tantraḥ (तन्त्रः) - This form is used when "Tantra" is the subject of a sentence, for example: "Tantraḥ pramāṇam" (तन्त्रः प्रमाणम्) meaning "Tantra is the authority."
  2. Accusative case: Tantram (तन्त्रम्) - This form is used when "Tantra" is the direct object of a sentence, for example: "Vedaḥ tantram adhyayati" (वेदः तन्त्रम् अध्ययति) meaning "He studies the Tantra scripture."
  3. Dative case: Tantre (तन्त्रे) - This form is used when "Tantra" is the indirect object or recipient of an action, for example: "Gurave tantre namaskaromi" (गुरवे तन्त्रे नमस्करोमि) meaning "I bow to the Guru in the Tantra tradition."
  4. Genitive case: Tantrasya (तन्त्रस्य) - This form is used to indicate possession or relationship, for example: "Śivasya tantrasya vijñānena saha" (शिवस्य तन्त्रस्य विज्ञानेन सह) meaning "With the knowledge of Shiva's Tantra."
  5. Locative case: Tantre (तन्त्रे) - This form is used to indicate location or place, for example: "Yogāsane tantrē āsanasthānam" (योगासने तन्त्रे आसनस्थानम्) meaning "The seat is in the Tantra tradition of Yoga."
  6. Instrumental case: Tantrēṇa (तन्त्रेण) - This form is used to indicate the means or instrument by which an action is performed, for example: "Mantram japaṁ karōti tantrēṇa" (मन्त्रम् जपं करोति तन्त्रेण) meaning "He chants the mantra with Tantra."
  7. Ablative case: Tantrāt (तन्त्रात्) - This form is used to indicate separation or source from which something originates, for example: "Jñānam tantrāt ābhāti" (ज्ञानम् तन्त्रात् आभाति) meaning "Knowledge shines forth from Tantra."
  8. Vocative case: Tantra (तन्त्र) - This form is used to directly address or call out to "Tantra," for example: "O Tantra, prasīda" (तन्त्र, प्रसीद) meaning "O Tantra, be gracious."
  9. Dual number: Tantrē (तन्त्रे) - This form is used when referring to two "Tantras" together, for example: "Iha dvē tantrē śaktiḥ prakāśate" (इह द्वे तन्त्रे शक्तिः प्रकाशते) meaning "In these two Tantras, the power shines forth."

These examples demonstrate the versatility of the word "Tantra" in Sanskrit and how it can be used in various grammatical forms to convey different meanings and functions.

Tantra Sound

Tantra Sound, as opposed to "Tantra of Sound," emphasises the primacy of sound as a transformative force within the broader context of Tantra. While Tantra encompasses a wide range of practices and teachings that integrate various aspects of life, including sound, Tantra Sound specifically focuses on the profound impact of sound vibrations on human beings.

The term "Tantra Sound" highlights the central role that sound plays within the Tantric tradition. It acknowledges that sound, in its various forms and expressions, holds immense power and potential for personal and collective transformation.

The choice of "Tantra Sound" over "Tantra of Sound" also reflects a deeper understanding of Tantra as a holistic and multidimensional path. It recognises that sound is not merely an object or an external element to be studied or analysed, but an intrinsic aspect of existence itself.

A Unique Exploration of Sound with 7 Metal Tibetan Bowls from Nepal
11 November 2024
In the world of wellness, new tools and techniques seem to appear constantly. But what really works, and what’s just another trend? One intriguing approach that’s recently gained attention is the use of sound, especially through singing bowls, as a way to ease into hypnosis. So, do singing bowls truly have the power to guide us into a calm, receptive state? Or is this simply another therapeutic claim waiting to be debunked? Let’s explore. What Makes Sound an Option for Hypnosis? To start, let’s look at sound itself. We know it has effects on the body and mind; certain sounds, specifically the sounds of hand-made 7 metals singing bowls, can calm us, while others can agitate or energise. So, if sound can influence mood, could it also play a role in helping people achieve the focus and openness required for hypnosis? Traditional hypnosis often involves induction techniques to reach this state, which can sometimes feel intense or structured. But could sound—especially the rich tones of a singing bowl—create that shift more gently, by simply guiding the mind to deeper layers of consciousness? This is what we’ll consider. How Singing Bowls Work in Hypnosis A singing bowl’s melody acts as a hypnotic guide, creating a consistent, calming beating vibrations that helps any listener drift into a profound state of relaxation under 2 minutes. Here’s how it might break down: - Induction without Effort: Hypnosis usually begins with an induction phase. Normally, this involves focused verbal techniques to help the client reach a hypnotic state. But with a singing bowl, the idea is that the sound itself does some of this work, making the process feel less forced or intense. - Using a Memorable Sound to Enhance Suggestions: T he very particular sound of any good quality hand-made singing bowl can reinforce the suggestions made during hypnosis through auditory cues. For instance, associating a specific tone with feelings of calmness or focus might make those suggestions easier to accept and recall later. This subtle sound-based reinforcement is particularly effective for individuals with heightened auditory responsiveness, such as those with positive auditory associations, like music appreciation, and for those with increased sensitivity to acoustic stimuli. - Bringing the Experience Home: One practical aspect of using a singing bowl in hypnosis is that clients can then use the bowl themselves, bringing the practice into daily life. With sound-based hypnosis, this continuation could help them maintain that state of calm, focus, or resilience at home or whenever they feel the need. It gives them an available and sustainable tool that they can use for themselves and others to increase their overall well-being. Is Sound-Based Hypnosis Effective? How does it work in practice? Studies on sound therapy in wellness and mental health suggest that certain tones can indeed influence mood and relaxation, but concrete research specifically on singing bowls in hypnosis is needed. An increasing number of individuals already find that sound-based treatments are particularly appealing because it removes some of the intensity that comes with traditional methods such as: - Hypnotherapy - Psychotherapy - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - Trauma Therapy - Physical Therapy - Occupational Therapy - Addiction Counselling - Speech Therapy - Pain Management Therapy - Sleep Therapy - Alternative Medicine - Child & Adolescent Therapy - Stress Management Therapy - Massage Therapy The use of singing bowls in traditional and innovative therapies is an area worth watching. While the scientific backing is still emerging, the idea of using sound to create a calm, receptive state for healing is intriguing. Whether in a session, online, or with a bowl at home, it’s an approach that invites curiosity and open-mindedness.
